Below are some resource tool that students are
welcome to use as tools.
Improving
Concentration
This tool gives you suggestions on how to improve concentration,
aural and visual exercises on concentration, and teaches
how to transition from memorization to understanding. Remember;
We are 5% efficient when we are just LISTENING.
We are 10% efficient when we are READING & REREADING.
We are 20% efficient when we are just HEARING OR SEEING.
We are 30% efficient when we are WATCHING DEMONSTRATIONS.
We are 50% efficient when in STUDY GROUPS.
We are 90% efficient by TEACHING OTHERS.
Note Taking
Our Note Taking resource teaches you how to learn in stages.
This method helps to increase confidence and reduces the
need to cram.
Time Management
Its important to learn good time management to become effective
and success in life. Our time managements tools provides
some directions to how to get an “A” in college,
gives recipes for college success, teaches students how
to be an effective time manager, and provides a schedule
for the week that includes classes, meals, work-study, meetings,
exercise, and most importantly assignments, exams, quizzes,
etc.
SQR3
- Unlocking Textbooks
The SQR3 Method teaches you how to get the most out of your
reading. SQR3 stands for Survey, Question, Read, Review,
Recite. Our tool explains how every textbook chapter is
divided into thirds and covers seven different concepts,
identifies fourteen clues to look for when reading and understanding
textbook material, and provides students with a more in
depth understanding on how to use the SQ3R method while
they studying.
VARK
(Visual, Aural, Read-Write, Kinesthetic)
Identifying your learning preferences can increase your
ability to study more effectively and obtain better grades.
The VARK tool defines the four styles of learning, explains
how these study strategies work, and provides a questionnaire
and scoring chart to help students identify how they learn
best.
Establishing
Goals
The CSTEP Team believes that your success is your responsibility!
Therefore, we decided to offer a solution focused approach
to establishing goals. Our tool helps students to identitfy
their overall goals and attitudes, visualize what will the
end of the semester look likes to them, define goals for
the semester, obtain a list of three to five solutions focused
strategies students can successfully implement to accomplish
these goals, and most importantly teach how to avoid the
diseases in learning.
